The graphic design of the site was done in partnership with the company AODEE, in order to respect the criteria of the brand and the vision of the president. My role has been to propose formats, functional modules as and when our interactions.
I also realized the logo of the site and the animation of the homepage.

On the WordPress development and technical side I made the installation, the integration and all the customizations of the site.
The website is multilingual French / English and built on a “one page” model.
It is also fully responsive which means the display is designed according to the size of the different screens (devices). It follows RGPG regulations as well.

Renan knew how to respect the specifications but by bringing ideas, creativity in line with the concept of the site.
He was also very flexible and understanding about the time constraints I could have.

I found an adapted hosting solution for my client
It all started with the installation of the WordPress framework on the server (duplicated by a development/staging sub-domain) and the domain name configurations
The website is built upon a Premium WordPress theme
My tasks included as well :

WooCommerce Customization: managing a songs directory

The initial request was to build a song catalog manager that would allow customers to calculate the total time of all songs chosen for any coming event. And it had to be downloadable and sent to the singer by mail (like a quote request more or less).
The initial trick was to consider each song as a product in the WooCommerce extension and use time as a currency.
Then you can compose your own playlist and know how much time to hire Laurine the singer, owner of the website.

WooCommerce – Shop + Subscriptions management

The project included the design and the configuration of a WooCommerce shop. We had to adapt the standard WooCommerce product types to our specific products (magazines, articles, downloadable or to ship…) and then work from grouped products type, products with variations, single products. We added a protection for downloadable products with passwords & watermarks.
Some products are subscription type products managed by the great WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin with recurrent payments : SEPA (Europe) and Stripe.
Many additional custom development solution had to be designed during the project :

  • The layout of WooCommerce products
  • Subscription billing with recalculation options (WordPress + AJAX)
  • Renewal of subscriptions based on the calendar year with AutomateWoo (another powerful WooCommerce plugin)
  • Payment methods depending on products types for checkout/registration
  • Detailled data export feature for users, subscribers …
  • Custom fields for WooCommerce registration process
  • File upload feature for registration/checkout
  • Various WooCommerce hooks to improve UX
  • New registrations queued automatically before manual validation (AutomateWoo customization)

Migration Process
Import it all

From their former system the challenge was to merge 2 different databases into 1 :

  • First one was a MySQL (no WordPress) with JSON encoding
  • Second one was a MongoDB one (NoSQL Database)

I had to retrieve all datas from members & subscribers from a the MongoDB database (with Mongo Atlas and Compass tools) and convert them to WordPress + WooCommerce + WooCommerce Subscriptions in order to import them through standard WordPress processes

I had to retrieve datas from the former website, articles, images … from a MySQL database and converti them to WordPress standard format. I directly injected the most of it into the WordPress MySQL database through queries.

 

Additional elements to migrate :

  • Calendar datas (events…) synchronized with Google GCP APIs
  • GPS map datas forward geo-coded with Google GCP APIs

The website has 50 pages, more than 700 articles, a hundred products, thousands of subscriptions, thousands of users – all of it had to be imported from their old system.

It was a great challenge to adapt their former subscriptions system (MongoDb & Ruby On Rails) on WordPress with WooSubscriptions ( with customizations).

Concepted with elementor pro - this powerful plugin provides many useful features and many tricks to design and build in a smarter way

Member space with external APIs

Memberspace with private infos

I was asked to replicate an existing website including the memberspace on a new server (full re-installation)
I developed a custom solution to request and display datas from external applications using dedicated APIs integrated in the new WordPress website.

 

The project implied the creation of custom fields from each user profiles: drop-down fields with search & auto-completion (created with Javascript and PHP)
My client and I collaborated to design the layout

Monitoring with APIs

The APIs services were needed for these softwares :

  • Zabbix Monitoring solution
  • PRTG Network Monitor‎
  • GLPI IT Asset Management

I developed the APIs handlers based on an Endpoint / Authentication / Requests / Response model (JSON – XML – SQL)
Custom fields from WordPress user profiles have been created to associate each logged-in user with the right datas ; meaning a user is only able to monitor his own IT assets, devices, networks..

 

Using PHP classes on the back-end and custom templates I created a page for each software, with datas coming from the corresponding API. On each page, depending on the monitoring tool the user can select the assets, devices, networks etc… he/she wants to monitor and then obtain a graph of the state of the chosen system.

Using APIs we have been able to bring the monitoring tools to each customer on a WordPress memberspace in a simple way

eLearning plugin adaptation to customer needs

It was designed upon the Learnpress plugin and a WordPress multisite structure.
This concept allows full separation of all clients’ sub-website and ensure datas safety.

Easy deployment solution

I have made the administration of all sub-website the easiest possible from the back-office.
When a new client joins the online program a super-administrator (with all permissions over the multisite) creates a new easily personnalizable sub-site.
Then this sub-site becomes administrable by a basic administrator (full permission over the sub-site only).
The maintenance of the multisites network is centralized.
I decided to develop upon an eLearning plugin because it suited most of the needs :

  • Interaction between consultants and learners
  • Follow-up of the progress of the program
  • Role management for instructors, business managers …
